The image follows traditional iconography, although the Virgin here looks directly at the viewer as she points to the child. She wears a cloak with a floral pattern and a fringe below the shoulder, and a star appears on the hood over her head. Neither figure has a halo, replaced by a floral scroll with colored enamel. Both are seen in a niche formed by a broad arch and short posts, and other floral ornament appears in the corners outside this frame. There is a thick outer wood frame, hinged in its upper part and carved with a twisted ribbon and a leafy vine.
