Description

A reclining nude lays on a bench in the middle of a green space, with a red blanket underneath her. The greenery comes up onto the bench where she lays, as she looks out at the viewer. The way in which Vevers paints is very impressionistic so the line and shape are very convoluted and blended. The piece feels flat, however, there are elements of shadow and light which create the illusion of depth in the painting. Furthermore, there is balance in the way that the woman is extenuated to fill the entire bench. The emphasis is on her body which is splayed out for the view to look at.
