"Kathryn J. Reeves, Professor of Art, teaches visual art at Purdue University and serves on the Printmaking, Painting & Drawing faculty. Her areas of specialization are print theory and print media: digital, intaglio, lithography, screen, relief, and hybrid forms.  Her studies include BFA painting/printmaking, Miami University of Ohio, 1974; MFA Printmaking and Drawing, Drake University, 1981; and Post Baccalaureate studies, Harvard University, 1975. Reeves worked at Harvard’s Fogg Art Museum, 1974-1976, and taught at Drake University, 1981, and Iowa State University, 1981-1987. Reeves has shown in over 300 international and national exhibitions (Australia, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Taiwan Republic of China, Turkey, US, and UK) and has won 35 exhibition awards for her prints. Her art works are included in the following public collections: Library of Congress; Frans Masereel Centrum, Kasterlee, Belgium; Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten (Royal Museum of Art) Antwerp, Belgium; University of the West of England, Impact Print Archive, Bristol, UK; Hewlett Packard, Bristol, UK; Sheldon Swope Art Museum; Anderson Fine Arts Center; Stockton Arts Commission; University of California at Davis, C. Essays by Reeves on theoretical models for understanding the print are published nationally and internationally in publications such as Contemporary Impressions: The Journal of the American Print Alliance, Relativities: 4th British International Miniature Print Exhibition catalogue, Global Matrix 2002 catalogue, and Lessedra International Print Exhibition 2002 catalogue, and John Hitchcock: Terminal catalogue, University of Arizona 2005, Chop Magazine 2008, as well as web publications in English, Bulgarian and Swedish. She is an elected member of the Society of American Graphic Artists, the Boston Printmakers, past President and current Vice President of the Mid America Print Council. She served on the Board of Directors of the American Print Alliance and the Southern Graphics Council. Reeves also formerly served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Visual Art Practice in the UK. Reeves has lectured on art, print theory and print/photo/digital media in the United States, UK, Italy, Finland, South Africa and Poland. Reeves has served as juror for numerous national and international print exhibitions including Lessedra International Print Exhibition, Sofia City Art Gallery, Bulgaria; 23rd Annual Print Competition, Alma College; Elements, SOFA Gallery Indiana University, Bloomington; 2nd Loyola University Chicago Print Biennial, Chicago; Photography: A Moment in Time, St. Louis Artist’s Guild; and at Purdue University: Contemporary Scottish Printmakers; Global Matrix: International Print Exhibition; Global Matrix II: International Print Exhibition, 2007; INKLANDIA: an international print exhibition, 2006; Exchange!
