The photographer captures the Montanvert hotel with the French Alps in the background. The hotel is a simple four story building with a stairwell leading to the front door. The terrain aruond the hotel is rocky and steep as the hotel is built into the mountainous terrain. There is a man that is standing on the rocky terrain a little ways from the photographer and hotel. The hotel shows reference the large scale at which the mountains stand at. The mountains are jagged with narrow peaks, and a narrow ridge and snowy crevasse.

To jagged rocks and icy seas
The trav'ler climbs with tireless feet,
To there enjoy the mountain freeze,
Above Earth's noise and Summer's heat
