Description

Oil painting of Madonna with Christ Child and John the Baptist on the proper left side of the painting. Madonna is sitting in a chair with turned spindles and has a red textile tied to from spindle to spindle to support her. She is wearing a green shawl with black, red and white striped inner-woven into textile and trimmed in gold fringe. Underneath she is wearing a red sleeved tunic with gold cuff. The Christ sits on her lap on top of a blue blanket and is wearing a child’s shift. His is barefoot and looks out at the painter as does his mother. John the Baptist child stands to proper left of seated pair with hands in prayer, wearing a dark brown shirt which may be an animal fur of some type, a cross composed of sticks is on his left shoulder. He is looking upward toward the Madonna and Christ.
