"Mamoun Sakkal has exhibited throughout the United States as well as in England, Syria, and Iran. Recently his art was displayed in ""The First Painting Biennial of the Islamic World"" at the Teheran Museum of Contemporary Art in Iran. Mr. Sakkal is a native of Aleppo, Syrai. He immigrated to the United States in 1978. He practices architecture, interior design, and graphic design, as well asprincipal of Sakkal Design School in Bothell, WA. He also teaches Islamic Art and Architecture for the University of Washington. His many awards include the first award in Kufi style in the Third International Calligraphy Competition in Turkey. Sakkal is art director of Cune Press and hails from the ancient Syrian city of Aleppo. He has a Masters in Architecture from the University of Washington, and lives in Bothell, Washington. He is a licensed architect, an award-winning interior designer, and an accomplished illustrator. His father was a teacher who published the first children’s books in Syria. Mamoun’s love is graphic design and, especially, the design of Arabic typefaces. Mamoun is also a scholar who has achieved international recognition for his research into medieval Islamic domes and muqarnas."
