After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Eric May went on to become a founder and director of Roots & Culture gallery in West Town, Chicago.   The “many eyes” seem to suggest a heightened awareness or “vision” on an unearthly visage.  The stark black image and dramatic design are also reminiscent of African masks.
