Full length portrait of John Purdue standing at a desk/chair wearing a dark suit c. 1870. Figure is a white, human male with graying hair and blue eyes. He is dressed in a black suit with waistcoat, topcoat and trousers over a white shirt w/ a black cravat. He is holding a cane that is black w/ a white handle. His hands have obvious blue veining. His face has a mole to the proper right of his nose, is clean-shaven but has some 5 o’clock shadow above his lip. Frame is black and appears to be original to the work. Painting appears to have been conserved at some point in the past.
