If You're Holding a Sapling: Parshat Beshalach 2026 January 30Entry/Object ID
rdi-2026-01-30Scope and Content
In the aftermath of profound loss and trauma, this sermon reflects on the challenge of finding space for song and hope before full healing has arrived. Drawing on Parshat B’shalach and the Song of the Sea, it argues that song is not reserved for those who are already safe or healed, but can be an act of spiritual resilience for people still living in uncertainty. Tu B’Shvat deepens this metaphor, reminding us that trees grow invisibly beneath winter’s surface and that planting itself is an act of hope. Together, song and planting become practices of refusing despair: taking one breath, one seed, and one fragile note at a time, trusting that life and renewal can begin even when they are not yet visible.Archive Details
