Man of Truth: Parshat Vayishlach 2026 December 5Entry/Object ID

Through Jacob’s wrestling with the mysterious figure before his reunion with Esau, this sermon explores truth not as an abstract ideal but as the courage to become honest about who we are. Jacob has spent years living under a false identity, defined by his brother’s story and by the blessing he obtained through deception. Only when he confronts himself, gives up the things that have defined his false identity, and answers simply, “Jacob,” can he receive a new blessing. His resulting limp becomes a symbol of this transformation: he has to be one-sided, one thing, not all things to all people. "There comes a moment for all of us when that which we're wrestling with asks what our name is."Archive Details
