Sermon : Parshat Chukat 2019 July 12Entry/Object ID
rdi-2019.07.12Scope and Content
Death is the theme of the Parshat, Rabbi Ingber points out, as it begins with the purification ritual of the Red Heifer and then moves through the death of Moses's siblings. Not giving Moses a chance to grieve, the Israelites accost him about their lack of water. So, God instructs Moses to speak to a rock and strike it with a staff to draw forth water. Rabbi Ingber says this is Moses's chance to speak softly and grieve.Archive Details
