Rabbi Ingber begins by discussing the Cubs winning the World Series after a very long time and then moves on to the New York City Marathon. His point being that it seemed like an eternity since the Cubs had won it all, while the marathon seems like an eternity for the people who run it. He then mentions a congregant who goes to the marathon every year to cheer people on and encourage them to move forward. This leads to the story of Noah and why he was the one who was chosen to survive the flood and rebuild society. He discusses how he was a good farmer who could work the soil and bring crops to where none had grown. Metaphorically, this leads to discussing how Noah was the great "gestator" and how there are "Noahs" among us who encourage others to keep them going through life's journey.Archive Details
