Sermon : Parshat Pinchas 2019 July 26Entry/Object ID
rdi-2019.07.26Scope and Content
Rabbi Ingber takes to task the Torah portion in which Pinchas takes up a spear and kills a priest and his non-Jewish lover. And the Torah says that God told Moses to reward him by giving him peace. Rabbi Ingber asks why is he rewarded for committing such a brash act. He points to the Ishbitzer's reading that Pinchas acted like a child for not looking beyond the surface of the act and acted like a child. And therefore, the peace given to him is that he should be treated like one.Archive Details
