Rabbi Ingber begins by acknowledging the secular new year and the beginning of a new book of the Torah and that Shemot means "names," and not "exodus." He points out the book begins with no names as does the main character, who is eventually named Moshe. He relates the story of Moses's early years and arrives at the burning bush, which he argues many others probably saw and ignored but Moses acknowledged it. He had the attributes of a great leader, which allowed him to really notice it. Leaders, Rabbi Ingber argues, have the ability to really see what is in front of them. He uses the case of the abusive rabbi, Marc Gafni, to illustrate his point. He calls on everyone to trust their heart if they are motivated by others' pain and suffering.Archive Details
