rdi-2017.01.20Scope and Content
Rabbi Ingber begins by discussing his trip with other rabbis to the Dominican Republic to learn from grass roots organizations on how to organize and protest against oppression. He moves on to discuss the three women who resisted power to raise Moses, and that if not for them, Moses would not have grown to lead the Jews out of Egypt. He discusses how the new pharaoh knew nothing of how Joseph had led well previously and things got worse for the Jews (the “other”) with the regime change. This is, of course, compared to Trump coming to power in the US and making things worse for the “other.” Returning to people he met in the Dominican Republic, Rabbi Ingber relates the story of someone who was in Haiti after the devastating earthquakes, and how a lot of survivors broke out in song—they were happy to be alive.Archive Details
