Rabbi Ingber begins with a linguistic discussion of the words “om,” “aim,” and “mother.” He then discusses the word “religion,” its origins, and its relation to meaning having faith in unseen things. He uses the movie Castaway as an example of a character having faith and never giving up, which he then ties into the story of Jacob and his son Joseph. Joseph was gone for 20 years, but he never gave up faith in seeing his father again and vice versa. The chariots that Joseph sent was a sign that Jacob would understand it was really Joseph and he was alive—the faith in the unseen thing.Archive Details
