Sermon : Parshat Vayishlach 2016 December 16Entry/Object ID
rdi-2016.12.16Scope and Content
Rabbi Ingber begins by discussing the intersection of Judaism and Buddhism. He does this by highlighting the four noble truths of Buddha, and how the two religions are similar—especially the concept of karma. This leads to causation and how to break falling into negative cycles that are unhealthy. He uses the idea of “reflect, resist, replace” he learned from a friend to say how to get out of these cycles, and then uses the story of Jacob wrestling with an angel as an example of doing this. He saws that Jacob succeeded doing this in the dark and then ties it into the lights of Hanukkah.Archive Details
