Shining light on our world : Parshat Bereshit 2016 October 28Entry/Object ID
rdi-2016.10.28Scope and Content
Rabbi Ingber begins by picking up where the previous sermon left off--with the last Torah portion cycling to the beginning of the first. He points out that the last word of the end of the Torah, Yisrael" is a "pre" word to the very first worst words, "In the beginning." He states that the community of the Jews is an idea that predates the beginning. He continues that according to the Torah, there was light before the sun and moon were created and continues on with the rest of the sermon how the light is metaphorical. The Jewish community brings "light" into darkness. When others are down or despairing, the job is to step in and bring light into their lives.Archive Details
