Hammarlund never made a sideband transceiver, although it experimented with one in the mid-1960s. A few prototypes of the HXQ-300 were constructed, but it never made it to the commercial marketplace. Instead, the company concentrated on separate transmitters and receivers, upgrading models already in production. The HX-50A upped the input power to 180 watts PEP (from the HX-50’s 130 watts) and added operating conveniences such as improved zero beating and CW break-in.
