Hallicrafters' top-of-the-line receiver, worth more than $6700 in 2023, adjusted for inflation. A double conversion superheteroyne unit with a 50 kHz second IF, crystal controlled second conversion oscillators, and precision gear-driven tuning. Bandspread calibrated for 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 11, and 10 meters. Includes a 100 kHz crystal calibrator. Requires external speaker.
Other features include two position BFO (one provide increased output for SSB reception), antenna trimmer, delayed action AVC, S-meter, and an IF output jack.
The first IF on bands 1 and 3 to 6 is 2075 kHz. The first IF for band 2 is 1550 kHz. Second IF is always 50 kHz.
Selectivity is variable from 10 kHz to 250 Hz at 6 db down, in six steps.
