(fully assembled) The Meissner 2-CW transmitter was a novice-class transmitter kit released in 1952. The "2-CW" designation refers to its two-tube design and its intended use for Morse code operation. The kit was similar to other popular novice kits of the era, such as the Ameco AC-1, and was a common entry point for new ham radio operators. The design was simple and straightforward, allowing beginners to build and operate their own radio equipment. The transmitter kit was produced by Thordarson-Meissner Manufacturing Division of Maguire Industries, Inc., located in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Initially advertised as an 80, 40, 20 meter transmitter, and sold as a kit. The article in Radio News mentions that it will work elsewhere, and provided instructions for winding coils for 20 and 40 meters, though coils for 20 and 40 were soon available for sale. In Meissner's 1954 catalog (which sold the transmitter fully assembled), coils were available for sale for all of the HF ham bands. Power input: 20-25 watts.
