The Eico model 717 electronic keyer had self-completing dots and dashes, and speeds of 3–65 wpm in four ranges. Its keying output was an 25 volt-amp SPST dry reed relay. The 717 used six tubes and two silicon rectifiers. The power supply and speaker were built-in.
By 1973 the 717 was only of only two amateur products remaining in the Eico catalog. The other was the 706 code practice oscillator. The 717 was discontinued sometime between 1974 and 1978. Most probably earlier than later.
