These are the first superheterodyne radios in the company's product line. They are all the same except for the frequency coverage of the so-called "X" band.
The "SX" nomenclature is used to denote the inclusion of the crystal filter.
Frequency coverage for all models: 1.3 to 21 MHz
S-4 "X" band: none
S-5 "X" band: 550 kHz to 1600 kHz
S-6 "X" band: 28 to 30 MHz
