A simple general coverage single-conversion superheteroyne type with one stage of IF and no RF amplifier. The receiver's performance is on par with Heath's GR-64 or Knight's Star Roamer, among many others, for example. Introduced in 1967, the 711 covers from 550 kHz to 30 MHz in four bands. Receives AM, CW, and SSB, with a variable pitch BFO control.
The 711 uses a 12BE6 as converter, 12BA6 as IF amplifier, 12AV6 as audio preamp, detector, and noise limiter, and 12AQ5 as audio output.
Basic features include a solid-state transformer operated power supply, built-in ferrite rod antenna for BCB reception, S-meter, switchable ANL, standby switch, headphone jack, and a Q-multiplier input. The receiver also features a bandspread control, but does not have a separate bandspread scale.
By 1972 the 711 was available only as fully assembled.
