Primary Functions: Determining the resonant frequency of "cold" tuned circuits and antennas. It can also serve as a "Q" tester, HF signal generator, "S" meter, L-C meter, crystal activity checker, field strength meter, modulation quality checker, and absorption wave meter.
Frequency Range: Covers 1.5 to 300 MHz using 6 color-coded coils.
Features silk-screened control labels, a 3-inch diameter serrated-edge plastic dial, and 6 color-coded scales. Includes an adjustable index scale for precise calibration and a friction device for smooth dial tuning.
Oscillator Circuit: Uses an ultra-audion oscillator using a 6AF4 tube with a split-stator tuning capacitor.
AM Modulation: Built-in internal AM modulation feature utilizing a neon lamp in a relaxation oscillator circuit, producing a tone rich in harmonics.
Power Supply: Uses a selenium rectifier with a line isolation transformer and a 20 µF filter capacitor.
Monitoring: Equipped with a phone jack for monitoring in either oscillating or non-oscillating modes.
Grid Current Consistency: Grid current remains uniform across the dial on almost all ranges (except for a slight drop at the low end of the lowest frequency range).
Crystal Checking: Crystals tested from 200 kHz to 20 MHz oscillated strongly.
