The Caringella ACP-1 is a solid-state audio compressor-preamplifier manufactured by Caringella Electronics, Inc. (Upland, California). It was sold both as a kit (18.50) and fully assembled (26.50). Uses 5 transistors and 1 diode (1 N-channel FET, 3 NPN silicon transistors, 1 PNP germanium transistor, and 1 germanium diode).
Specifications
– Circuitry: Features a low-noise, high-impedance FET input stage in a 5-transistor, 1-diode circuit.
– Compression Range: 30 dB minimum.
– Adjustability: Input and output signal levels are completely adjustable via front-panel controls.
– Frequency Response: Flat from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (without RFI filter); 20 Hz to 5,000 Hz (with RFI filter).
– Input / Output Impedance: 0.5 MΩ input impedance; 5 kΩ output impedance.
– Timing: Minimum attack time of 1 ms; release time of approximately 2 seconds.
Power Requirements: 9 VDC (internal battery) to 12 VDC, drawing 3 mA to 5 mA.
