Developed as an affordable, quality entry point to the 220 MHz band. Clean, simple, and functional without unnecessary "buzzers, bells, whistles, and gadgets."
Features
– Channel Capacity: 12-channel capability. Comes factory-installed with crystals for the 223.50 MHz national simplex frequency. Additional crystal pairs were sold for $8 a pair.
– Power Output: Selectable high/low power output (10 Watts to 1 Watt). Bench testing measured approximately 11.5 Watts in high power and 1.5 Watts in low power.
– Controls & Indicators: Features receive and transmit crystal trimmers, a transmit indicator, and a large illuminated combination S-meter/RF output meter.
– Audio & Connections: Includes a side-mounted built-in speaker, a remote speaker jack, and rear-panel inputs for tone burst and outputs for a discriminator meter.
– Protection: Includes built-in SWR protection—when presented with high SWR or a direct short, it automatically scales back output or refuses to transmit to prevent damage.
