Collins entered the post-war amateur market with a high-power transmitter. The 30K-1 stood 5 1/2 feet tall, weighed 600 pounds, and delivered 500 watts CW or 375 watts AM on the 80-10 meter bands. Its 4-125A final was modulated by a pair of 75THs in Class B. The 30K-1 was made to be used (and often sold) with the Collins 310A exciter.
