(32S-3A) Several of the changes and improvements in the 32S-3 from the 32S-1 were for the CW mode. The 32S-1's tone-generated CW was eliminated and a carrier signal was routed around the balanced modulator. Zero-beating received signals was easier, and the keying wave shape was adjustable. The 32S-3 had the same power and mode specs as its predecessor and could transceive with 75S-series receivers. The A model added an extra crystal deck and 14 more band-switch positions to the 32S-3 transmitter. It was otherwise electrically identical. Collins offered the 744B-2 kit to retrofitolder transmitters. Factory-built S-3As had solid-white “eyebrows” above the Exciter and PA Tuning controls; $1100.00, 1969.
