Note
Even though it was never an official project at Collins, this solid-state engineering study explored interesting mobile transceiver concepts. The transceiver was all solid-state and developed only a few watts drive to its remote, tube-type power amplifier.
The power amplifier module for the solid-state prototype could be mounted remotely and required little attention from the operator. It had a driver tube and used a pair of 6146 finals.
The DC-to-DC converter supplied high voltages for the solid-state prototype’s tube PA, using a car battery as its source.
