Note
The TCS consisted of a transmitter and receiver, along with associated power supply and control circuits. It was designed by Collins Radio for the U.S. Navy during WW II. Collins manufactured more than 35,000 units, and companies such as Magnavox, Stewart-Warner, King Radio, and others manufactured them under license from Collins. The set was used aboard small naval craft as well as for mobile and portable operation ashore. The transmitter covered 1.5-12 MHz, either VFO or crystal controlled. Power output was 40 watts CW and 20 watts AM. The seven-tube superhet receiver covered the same range as the transmitter.
