General Notes

Note

CQ, Sep 1965, p. 48. This was a "new products" announcement. No actual advertising for the Codetyper was seen until July 1971, in Electronics World. In the 1965 announcement the price was 299.50, but in the 1971 ad the price stated (without batteries) was $160. The ad ran only once. It is not known if any Codetypers were ever actually sold. The following is taken directly from the 1965 CQ new product announcement (with some light editing): ---------- The sub-miniature code generator model 400 has 21 transastors and an internal NiCad battery supply. For code practice and monitoring the model 400 uses a 1000 Hz tone. For transmitting, a relay contact is used. Speed is continuously adjustable from from 5 to 55 WPM. Key action is momentary snap-action with electrical lockout during character plus space duration. The keyboard contain a mechanical matrix with a 12 bit word length. Six bits are used to program the Mark intervals, and six bits for Dot numbers and locations. The Mark interval bits are stored in a shift register, and the Dot bits in the Dot latches. ---------- In 1976, Computronics tried with a CW keyboard it called the Morsetyper BDC (see separate entry). For background, see Codetyper EBC3. References Electronics World, May 1965, p. 91.
