General Notes

Note

While Connect Systems is well-known today for DMR radios (like the CS800D), the Model CS-9600 is a legacy high-capacity shared repeater onterconnect. Building on the technology of the CS-700 and CS-900, the CS-9600 was designed for more complex systems where multiple users or groups shared a single repeater but required private telephone access. The CS-9600 is a microcomputer-based shared interconnect. Unlike the single-user CS-700, the 9600 is designed for multi-user environments, allowing for up to 99 individual users to have private access codes, separate speed-dial memories, and independent toll restrictions. It serves as a sophisticated bridge between a repeater and the public telephone network, providing automatic station identification and comprehensive call management for small-to-medium business or club fleets. Features – 99-User Capacity: Supports up to 99 unique user ID codes, making it ideal for shared repeater systems. – Individual Toll Restrictions: Each user can be assigned specific permissions (e.g., local calls only, long-distance enabled, or restricted prefixes). – Advanced "Electronic Voice Delay" (EVD): Prevents the first syllable of a mobile user's transmission from being clipped during the VOX-controlled audio handoff. – Programmable CW ID: Automatically transmits the repeater's call sign in Morse code to maintain FCC compliance for automatic stations. – Validation & Security: Requires a valid DTMF access code to initiate a call; unauthorized attempts are automatically blocked. – Remote Programming: Allows the system administrator to change user codes and settings over the radio or phone line. – Direct-Air Dialing: Mobile users can dial numbers directly using their keypad, or use one of the 99 shared/private speed-dial locations. Specifications – User Memory: 99 User Slots (ID, Toll Level, Speed Dials) – Dialing Output: DTMF (Touch-Tone) or Pulse (selectable) – Station ID: Morse code (CW), user-programmable speed and pitch – Power Requirements… 12.0V to 14.5V DC – Installation: Standard DB-9 or Phoenix-style connectors (rear panel) – Call Timing: Programmable "Time-Out" timer per user or per call – Compatibility: Compatible with almost any FM repeater or base station
