The HA-8 “Splatter Guard” was a phone transmitter accessory that indicated over-modulation or flat-topping in an amplifier. It consisted of an inline detector, a display unit, and the wiring to connect the two. The indicator in the display box was a 6FG6 “light bar” tube in place of the green “Magic Eye” tube commonly used in such devices.
