Kit or wired.
Eico introduced the 723 in 1960. The units uses a 6CL6 electron-coupled Colpitts oscillator low crystal heating and minimum effect of plate loading on frequency. The power supply is a choke input, full wave type providing 500 volts. The pi-network output consists of a tapped coil, with plate tuning and antenna loading air variables. Another air variable tunes the grid tank of the final (and the plate tank of the oscillator). The meter can read both grid and plate current. A rear panel load switch inserts extra capacitance for low impedance loads on 80 and 40 meters, and an octal socket provides connections for a modulator, antenna relay, VFO power take-off, and emergency power input.
Other features include one-knob band switching, a one-knob off-standby-tune-transmit switch, oscillator keying for break-in operation, and TVI suppression.
Frequency coverage: 80–10 (but not 11) meters
Frequency control: crystal or VFO
Connection for external modulator
Input power: 60 watts CW, 50 watts AM
Load impedance: 50–1000Ω
Power : 117 VAC, 60 Hz, 140 watts
Tubes: (1) 6CL6, (1) 6DQ6, (1) GZ34
