Kit or wired. QST, Aug 1956, p. 87. QST, Oct 1956. p. 103. (details and inside photo) QST, Jan 1958, p. 111. (appears to be the F model) QST, Apr 1958, p. 113. (SSB-1000F, "25% more power.") QST, Sep 1958, p. 121. (specs) The SSB-1000 was first mentioned in an ad in QST, Dec, 1955, but did not appear for sale for another nine months. The Eldico SSB-1000 tabletop linear amplifier used a pair of 4X250B tubes and needed only 3 watts to drive it to a full kilowatt. It had a built-in power supply, a pi-net output, and covered 80-10 meters. The Eldico 1000F linear amplifier used an Eimac 4CX300A for 1250 watts PEP input on SSB. DC input on CW and AM was 1000 watts and 700 watts, respectively. Its input presented a constant 50 ohm load to the exciter. References Review: QST, Jan 1957, p. 36.
