Note
The Elecraft KX1 is an ultra-portable, multi-band CW transceiver specifically optimized for backpacking, travel, and "trail-friendly" operation. Its unique design features controls on the top of the cabinet and a front-attaching keyer paddle, making it ideal for handheld use or operating from a lap while sitting on the ground or in a camp chair. The unit is highly integrated, accommodating an internal battery, optional automatic antenna tuner, and a log-book lamp in a compact package.
Features
Highly Portable Form Factor: Designed for handheld or tabletop use without needing a tilt stand.
Multi-Band Coverage: Standard coverage includes the 40 and 20-meter bands, with optional support for 80 and 30 meters.
Efficient Power Management: Low receive-mode current drain (approximately 35 mA) allows for 20+ hours of battery life from its internal six-cell pack.
Variable Bandwidth Filter: A 3-pole crystal filter allows the operator to adjust selectivity (approx. 300–2000 Hz) and facilitates reception of SSB and AM signals in addition to CW.
Integrated UI Features: Includes a rugged 3-digit LED display with a bargraph S-meter mode, nine frequency memories, and three VFO tuning rates.
CW Feedback: An audible Morse code feedback system provides announcements for VFO frequency, menu text, and control settings, allowing for operation even when the display is turned off.
Versatile Keying: Features a built-in iambic keyer (modes A and B) with two message buffers; the optional plug-in paddle is reversible for right- or left-handed operators.
