The Hytron HY-Q 75 was a transmitter for specifically 1¼ and 2 meters. It was sold only briefly from 1946 to 1947.
Key features and specifications of the Hytron HY-Q 75 included:
It utilized the popular Hytron HY75 tube, a type of VHF triode vacuum tube. An improved version of the tube, the HY75A, was later released, which offered increased power output.
It was a "linear oscillator" design, and its parts were often prefabricated to simplify construction.
The transmitter was capable of operating with a maximum CW (continuous wave) input of 75 watts and a maximum phone (voice) input of 60 watts.
The HY-Q 75 was a popular choice for portable and mobile rigs due to its compact size and efficiency. It was marketed as a way to get on the air with a very efficient VHF oscillator without having to deal with complex "plumbing" and tricky parts.
