The Galaxy Rejector is a compact, external audio notch filter designed to eliminate heterodynes and adjacent-channel interference. Introduced in mid-1965 by Galaxy Electronics, it was marketed as an affordable, plug-and-play solution for receivers and SSB transceivers that lacked a built-in internal notch filter.
Specifications & Features
– ilter Type & Frequency Range: It is an all-transistor active audio filter covering a range from 300 to 5,000 Hz.
– Notch Depth & Width: It knocks down a 10 to 20 Hz segment of the audio spectrum by up to 40 dB, effectively removing unwanted tones without destroying the rest of the voice signal.
Hookup requires no internal modifications to the receiver. The rear panel utilizes standard RCA phono jacks: one cable runs from the receiver's speaker/audio output to the Rejector, and a second cable connects the Rejector directly to the external speaker.
Power Supply: Requires 12 volts (AC or DC) at 0.5 amperes. This power could be tapped directly from the auxiliary accessory power sockets found on many contemporary ham transceivers, from an external source.
