("year end close-out") The 30-watt, 2 meter transceiver had 10 crystal controlled channels and used true FM rather than phase modulation. It had a 1 watt low power position and came with a mobile mounting bracket and microphone. Manufactured by General Aviation Electronics, Incorporated, whose main business was avionics. A multi-position switch allows setting for long-time low power drain operation. Thus, the radio can be operated for extended periods of time with minimal current usage. Sensitivity is better than 0.5 uV for 12 dB SINAD. Images are suppressed more than 45 dB and spurious responses are down more than 50 dB. Selectivity i s +8 kHz. Squelch threshold i s 0.5 pV maximum. The transmitter covers the frequency range from 144 to 148 MHz, and features nominal output power of 30 watts. The output matches standard 50-ohm amateur antennas. Frequency deviation i s adjust-able to ±10 kHz maximum. At some point by mid-1973 the GTX-2 was updated, as evidenced by this line in an October 1973 "new products" announcement in Ham Radio magazine: "has been refined and updated for superior sensitivity with the same dual-gate MOSFET in the receiver front end as is found in the GTX-200." Note that the model number did not change as a result of this update. References Brief description. Popular Electronics, Dec 1974, p. 12.
