Radio News, Aug 1948, p. 53. QST, Nov 1948, p. 90. Radio News, Nov 1949, p. 181. In the early days of amateur single sideband operation, the hobby's periodicals carried articles explaining the new mode along with circuits to implement it. Prominent among the authors was Donald Norgaard, W2KUJ, who described the work he had done at General Electric's research laboratory. Shortly after his articles were published, several of his circuits became the basis for commercial products from various manufacturers. The YRS-1 receiving adapter was marketed by G.E. It employed the phasing method for sideband selection and was useful not only for single sideband, suppressed carrier reception, but also for dodging interference on regular AM with carrier signals.
