General Notes

Note

Radio Amateur's Handbook, 1958, p. 85. A Communicator for all VHF AM applications on fixed frequencies from 25 to 300 MHz. The unit is compact and includes speaker and dual power supply for 12 volt DC or 115 volt AC operation. The transmitter is fixed, crystal controlled, and uses type 6360 twin tetrode in P-P, plate modulated by two 12AB5's. Integral speech clipping prevents modulation in excess of 100%. Spurious transmitter emissions down more than 60 db at 230 MHz. Power output is 10 watts carrier with A3 emission at 150 MHz, 7 watts at 300 MHz. Operation is PTT. Receiver is fixed, crystal controlled, and utilizes double conversion. Excellent noise figure assured by use of an X-155 Cascode RF tube. Spurious receiver responses are down greater than 60 db at 230 MHz. Price includes microphone and two crystals. The 3111 is nearly identical to the model 3112 CD fixed frequency Communicator (rated only to 250 MHz), and to the model 3227 airport communicator (which is rated to 300 MHz but lacks the S-meter).
