The model Ill improved upon its predecessors in the Communicator line and came in both 6 and 2 meter versions. The Communicator Ill included a 115 VAC/6 & 12 VDC power supply, a low-noise cascade RF stage, AVC, PTT operation, a slide-rule dial, and a panel meter to replace the magic eye tube. All transmitter tuning controls were adjusted using knobs rather than a screwdriver. Solid-state diodes replaced the power supply's rectifier tube.
