QST, May 1961 inside front cover. Allied Radio catalog 1962 (copyright 1961), p. 273. QST, Jun 1964, p. 157. QST, Aug 1965, p. 160. (Out of production in the summer of 1965. Harrison bought out all remaining stock, and the unit was available for purchase through at least May 1966) HA-2 discontinued after 1964? Requires the P-26 power supply. The Hallicrafters models HA-a and HA-6 are two and six-meter transverters designed to work in conjunction with a 28 MHz to 30 MHz (10-meter) transmitter/exciter. The units provide operating capabilities from 50 MHz to 54 MHz, and 144 to 148 MHz. Because they operate as a linear conversion system without altering signal characteristics, the transvertes handle any mode supplied by the driver station—including SSB, CW, AM, FM, PM, and FSK. – Conversion Crystals: They units use two CR-23/U crystals to split coverage into two seperate segments (50–52 MHz and 52–54 MHz) for both transmit and receive functions for six meters, and 144–145 MHz and 146–148 MHz for two meters. –  Impedance: All RF ports (antenna, receiver, and exciter inputs) are rated for a 50-ohm terminating impedance. – Power Output: Delivers up to 60 watts PEP for SSB, CW, FSK, FM, and PM, or 15 watts carrier for AM operation. – Excitation Inputs: The rear panel features two distinct drive ports: High Level Input: Accepts up to 25 watts PEP maximum. Low Level Input: Designed for low-power exciters requiring approximately 0.5 watts PEP. – Control Requirement: Driving exciters must have an RF output level adjustment to set the proper carrier level for AM mode. Receiver Converter Performance – Sensitivity: Rated at 1.5 uV for a 10 dB Signal-to-Noise ratio. – Noise Figure: Measures between 2 dB and 5 dB. TVI Suppression: Constructed with extensive shielding, component-level parasitic suppression, and feedthrough lead bypassing to minimize television interference. Hallicrafters designed the companion Model P-26 AC power supply for this role (drawing 290 watts maximum). System Interlocking: A single P-26 supply can power both an HA-6 (6-meter) and an HA-2 (2-meter) transverter through an interlocked setup that prevents both units from transmitting simultaneously.
