The HT-17 covered 3.5 to 30 MHz with plug-in coils. The crystal-controlled transmitter's CW output was 15 watts on the 80 and 40 meter bands; 10 watts on 20, 15, and 10. The VFO-style slide-rule dials were actually scales for the tank circuit's plate and load capacitors. A jeweled pilot lamp served as a visual output indicator and could be replaced with a meter as an option.
