The S-76 was double conversion with IFs at 1650 and 50 kHz. It is difficult to miss the 11-tube set's giant 4-inch S-meter. Frequency coverage was 538-1580 kHz and 1720 kHz-32 MHz. Selectivity was provided by UC circuits in the second IF. One RF, two conversion, and two IF stages. Audio output is 2.5 watts, "peaked for communications frequencies." Separate main and band spread tuning controls, with BFO pitch, "full range" tone control, and a large 4.5" S-meter. Includes a phono input jack with front panel selector. Selectivity in five steps, see diagram. Early versions did not include 15 meters on the band spread scale. Also includes a 500 Ω line out jack. Requires at external 3.2 Ω speaker.
Satin black steal cabinet with "plastichrome."
