The SX-117 tuned from 3 to 30 MHz in 500 kHz bands. The triple conversion receiver was furnished with crystals for 80, 40, 20, and 15 meters, plus 28.5-29 MHz on 10 meters. Four additional band-switch positions were available to complete coverage of 10 meters or add other frequencies with optional crystals. The receiver used 13 tubes and four silicon diodes. It could transceive with Hallicrafters' HT-44 transmitter. Three selectivity settings: 5.0, 2.5, 0.5 kHz @ –6 dB.
Standard features include a headphone jack, an S-meter, BFO, AVC, ANL, 100 kHz crystal calibrator, RF gain, mute line, antenna trimmer, notch, standby, VFO output on rear panel, crystal oscillator output jack, and a preselector. Requires an external speaker.
Matches the HT-44 transmitter.
Optional low frequency converter (HA-10) provides coverage from 85 kHz to 3.0 MHz.
