The HQ-205 is an update of the HQ-105TR.
The Hammarlund HQ-205 is a communications instrument that combines a general coverage superheterodyne receiver (540 kHz to 30 MHz) with a Class D Citizen's Band (CB) transceiver.
Red segments on the main tuning dial indicate wherein the majority of the international shortwave stations can be located.
Features
– Receiver Capabilities: Supports AM, CW, and SSB reception. Includes a Hammarlund noise limiter circuit, a Q-Multiplier for variable selectivity, an adjustable squelch circuit, and an "S" Meter. It can function as either a tunable or crystal-controlled CB receiver.
– Tuning & Bands: Features electrical bandspread tuning with direct calibration for the 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10-meter amateur bands. Main tuning dial markings highlight international shortwave bands, and the front-panel "Spot" switch helps precisely calibrate CB channels.
– Transmitter & Modulation: Uses a high-gain modulator designed for desk microphones. Transmitter keying is operated via the front panel switch or a push-to-key microphone switch.
– Crystals & Antennas: Provides separate inputs for shortwave and CB antennas, allowing both to remain connected simultaneously. Accommodates five internal receive crystals, five internal transmit crystals, and one external transmit crystal.
– 10-Meter Operation: Can be adapted for use as a 10-meter transceiver without physical modification, requiring only simple transmitter adjustments.
