Matching unit with T-90.
The R-9 receiver was a nine-tube, double-conversion set covering the 80-1 0 meter bands. It came with a choice of 115 VAC or 6/12 VDC power supplies. It sold for $149.50. Its matching speaker was $10.75. The T-90 transmitter covered the same frequency range as the R-9. The 75 watt phone, 90 watt CW rig was VFO controlled and had provision for crystal operation. Its price was $179.50 minus power supply. The APS-90 fixed-station power supply cost $79.50. The Z-Match antenna coupler covered 80-10 meters without band switching, matching 10 to 2000 ohm loads, bal-anced or unbalanced. It contained a forward/reflected power meter.
The 10-tube R-9A differed little from the previous R-9 model with the exception of printed circuit boards replacing point-to-point wiring. It covered the 80–10 meter bands and was double conversion. The R-9A had a built-in 117 VAC power supply, and a DC supply was available as an option.
The individual components were housed in similar-size cabinets.
After being discontinued in 1958, Harvey Wells began production again in 1960, albeit briefly, since no subsequent advertising has been found.
