Note
The IC-208H replaced the IC-207H in 2003. The unit is a compact dual-band (2m/70cm) FM amateur mobile transceiver, with wideband receiver, 500+ alphanumeric memory channels, and 55W/50W (VHF/UHF) power output. Key features include a detachable control head for flexible mounting, 9600 bps packet capability, CTCSS/DCS encode/decode, and wideband scanning.
The IC-208H provides multi-band operation with broad frequency coverage, including reception of AM aviation bands and common public service frequencies. Its design emphasizes versatility, offering a compact body with a separate controller that can be mounted up to 7 meters (approx. 23 feet) away from the main unit using optional cables.
Features
– High Output Power: Delivers up to 55W on VHF and 50W on UHF bands.
– Detachable Controller: The front panel can be detached from the main unit for easy remote installation.
– Selectable Display Colors: Users can choose between amber, green, or yellow backlighting to suit their preference or lighting conditions.
– Dynamic Memory Scan (DMS): Features a total of 512 memory channels, including 500 regular channels that can be grouped into 10 banks.
– Remote Control Microphone: The radio comes standard with a full-control keypad microphone (HM-133), allowing for direct frequency entry and radio setting adjustments.
– Squelch Attenuator: Includes an RF attenuator that can provide approximately 10 dB of signal reduction to help manage strong local signals.
– Pocket Beep and Tone Functions: Built-in CTCSS and DTCS encoder/decoder for silent standby and accessing repeaters.
